Sobieszewo Island with very diversified landscape and nature is one of the main natural attractons in Gdańsk. It is a unique place with breathtaking views, various habitats, ponds, lakes and many natural curiosities, located in the delta between the Vistula river and the sea.
There are almost 300 species of birds on the island and you can watch them in two reserves – Mewia Łacha (Seagul’s Shoal) and Ptasi Raj (Bird’s Paradise). Due to its unusual natural conditions, Sobieszewo Island houses researching stations: the Biological Station of the University of Gdańsk and the Ornithological Station of Polish Academy of Science.
